What sort of things can I get your help with?

A: We provide information and advice about welfare issues including benefits, community care, environmental access, equipment and other key areas. We don’t provide direct support with certain things like debt and housing, but can put you in touch with organisations that do.

Are you still helping with forms during the pandemic?

A: Yes, we’re mainly providing help with forms over the telephone. We arrange an appointment to call you to complete the form and all you need do is to drop off the form prior to your appointment. If you sign the form before giving it to us then we can post it off for you.

Do you help with claims for Universal Credit?

A: We can help with the Work Capability element of Universal Credit. Once you have set up an on-line claim and have indicated that health problems may limit your ability to work, after a few weeks you will be sent a Work Capability Form. When you receive this let us know and we can arrange an appointment to help you fill it in.

I’ve put in a claim for Personal Independence Payment but have been turned down. What can I do?

A: You need to request a Mandatory Reconsideration. We can help you to do this and also support you to make an appeal if necessary.

I am interested in becoming a volunteer with DAG. What sort of things could I do to help you?

A: There are a variety of different activities that we can offer including advising our customers with their benefit claims, office administration and helping us with fundraising projects. Pop in for a chat and we’ll match up your skills and interests with what we do.
